The Israeli education system has set a goal to lead every child to success in school, regardless of their socioeconomic background or affiliation, while promoting social mobility and access to higher education as a prerequisite for meaningful civic participation for both the individual and society. These goals serve as key pillars in fostering solidarity and national resilience within Israel’s multicultural society.

Reality shows that, despite the efforts, there is still a correlation in Israeli high schools between academic achievement and factors such as socioeconomic background, place of residence, religious affiliation, and ethnic identity.
